KAB Boosts Grant Amount for 2009 Graffiti Hurts® Program

Keep America Beautiful's 2009 Graffiti Hurts® Grant Program, sponsored by The Sherwin-Williams Company, will offer three grants of $2,500, an increase of $500 for each grant over 2008 awards. Grants are offered to one community under 100,000 population, one community between 100,000 and 300,000 population, and one community over 300,000 population. The application deadline is June 5, 2009. Billie Massa Litter Control Award

Donor: District II

A certificate and $25.00 may be awarded to a Federated club, council of group of clubs for sponsoring a project in the field of litter control encompassing such activities as waste reduction, recycling, and endeavors for a quality environment. Youth involvement emphasized. Project documentation must include: extent of involvement of individual club members; involvement of other organizations in the community, youth involvement, including youth garden clubs and other youth groups; government involvement; the actual or potential extent of the goals that the project accomplished; and the influence on the public for a quality environment.

Donor: Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc.
An annual cash award of $25 to a garden club, council or group of clubs affiliated with one of the State Garden Club Organizations of the Deep South Region for sponsoring a project in the field of litter control, encompassing such activities as waste reduction, recycling, and endeavors for a quality environment. Youth involvement to be emphasized

The Harriet Thomas Award and a $100 donation by the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. may be awarded for the most outstanding community project on litter prevention, reclamation and/or recycling, ex. year long program, organizing recycling program, establishing community composting site.
