Blue Star Memorial Marker in Terrytown
Terrytown
Garden Club, under the leadership of President Tricia Ortalano and
partnered with Terrytown Lions Club, Terrytown American Legion Post
378, and Jefferson Parish Council of Garden Clubs dedicated a Blue
Star Memorial Marker in the 400 block of Terry Parkway in Terrytown
on March 20, 2012. Jennifer Van Vrancken, Deputy Chief Operations
Officer of Jefferson Parish, served as the Master of Ceremonies.
Jefferson Parish Councilman Ricky Templet presented a Proclamation
from the Jefferson Parish Council to the Terrytown Garden Club for
their sponsorship of the memorial. Two chapter presidents of
Louisiana Blue Star Mothers, Linda Furr of Baton Rouge and Suzette
Johnston of Houma, brought poignant messages based on personal
observations and the service experiences of Louisiana military

and District II Director-Elect, brought the Louisiana Garden Club
Federation and National Garden Clubs messages to the audience. This

three more are in the planning stages.
